she/her

Kalisha is a Leeds based artist from London, looking specifically at the impact of the ‘Windrush generation’ who moved from the Caribbean to England in the post-war period, Kalisha’s work engages with the impact this had on the cultural landscape of Britain as well as the more personal impact these journeys imparted on those taking them.

Throughout her work Kalisha is exploring and celebrating the impact of migration on urban life, turning specifically to historical and autobiographical memory, using voice, archives, narration and text to create work which attempts to understand and celebrate those who have come before us.

Kalisha was also treasurer of Leeds University Union Black Feminist Society 2021-2022.
